lovely big house welcomed us with a warm embrace

Arrived 18th Feb 2006, lovely big house welcomed us with a warm embrace. There was snow! Beginners runs on Lecht were well covered but limited elsewhere. Therefore we learned to snowboard which was perfect given the conditions. Two days of overcast skiing, one day blazing Sunshine could not be better.

We think we saw some Golden Eagles while driving back from the Lecht one day - certainly a big bird cruising up the valley. As usual could not get the binoculars out fast enough.

Extremely impressed by the house

Arrived on Feb 11th for a weeks holiday. Extremely impressed by the house, which beautiful. No snow all week gutted! apart from this morning, as we are about to leave. Been to numerous places including Inverness, Culloden Battlefield + Aviemore. Were planning on going ice skating in Aviemore as we did a few years back and had heard they had a new one, however seeing the 9m2 of its size decided against it!

If you want to get a bit shopping in - recommend Inverness which has a huge shopping centre - Brilliant.

House, is great for games of hide n seek or sardines, and we spent ages looking for some.

Overall loved it... just a shame about the snow.

Fantastic House real luxury

Fantastic House -Best shower down stairs - real luxury. Lovely to watch the stars through the skylights from bed. Managed some skiing at the Cairngorm yesterday. 1 km of runs open perfect for beginners - relaxing for more experienced skiers. Would recommend the circular walk (Drumin Circular Walk) from the doorstep ~ 3 miles.

The Old Firestation cafe in Tomintoul is lovely - wonderful breakfasts and really friendly and welcoming for children.

Glenfiddich Distillery very enjoyable for all of the family and also free (with a few wee drams included) - also good slope in the car park for a lot of impromptu sledging.

Sometimes we forgot where we were and thought we were in the Alps! - Wonderful scenery, went on a Jacobite cruise on Loch Ness - poured with rain - lots of fun but no Nessie in sight. Definitely come back again - perhaps different time of year - would have loved to go on the Puffin tours off Macduff (Best phone a few days in advance).
