The last 40 minutes of on drive from Portpatide to this cottage were of an amazing
beauty – especially for people like us living in a density populated region around Brussels – Belgium. This was really an ideal place for us to relax and un wind.
Unfortunately the midges kept us from making long walking trips in the highlands, but nevertheless we did come mice trips to Gairloch Stoer, Ullapool & Strathpeffer.
The latter is a special place for us since a former university friend of mine and a former neighbor from the village that we live in Belgium has moved to Strathpeffer 2 years ago. They started a fantastic chocolate shop in Strathpeffer and we went to visit them as a surprise. Their hot chocolate and chocolates are just ” to die for”.
Worth a visit & please say hello to your & fabience if you plan to visit their “Maya” shop. While in Strathpeffer we were also ludy to witney a traditional Scottish wedding awesome!
We enjoyed every single minute here in Windyhill best being a family of 5 we’d love to have had a bigger fridge, esp. since the nearest big shop is at Ullapool. Also the oven and home kitchen utensils need some refresh. But apart from that we surely want to start planning our next trip out here all ie we’ve back in Belgium esp. Since we did not see any asking shark on whales on our boat trip out of gemlach…yet another good reason to be back 🙂
End of a fantastic week!!!
