Even given the unsettled weather, the scenery is simply mes noising. Drive up the back road to Lochinver via Inverkirkaig is awesome and Achins bookshop in Inverkirkaig well worth a visit.
Pies at Lochinver larger are excellent. Drive up to the beach at Achmelvich is lovely are Achmelvich – beach itself fantastic – beautiful white sand and coral blue sea – you could almost be in the Caribbean, except for temperature difference!! The walk from Achmelvich beach up to Atan na bradlan and down to the old corn miv affords spectacular views of the blow holes around teh cliffs – not to be missed. But for the lesser energetic you can drive up the road towards Stoer and park up near Cachair Dubh Estate & walk down past the cottages towards the old corn mill (signaposted). That way to avoid the climb up!! We have had a very restful and relaxing week, just a pily that hot water tank is not large enough to make use of the whirlpool bath, although the plumber did say this would be fixed by Autumn when there are a few unbooked weeks to get the work completed.
Thanks to Nan for leaving the house clean, but it would have been nicer if previous guests had cleaned the oven after very had used it and not left dishes with food on there!!!
