Things To Do in Glenlivet & Speyside

Landmark (20 minutes away from Glenlivet) is a great day for the whole family set in an ancient Scots Pine forest, you can follow the tree top trail and see the wildlife from a completely different angle. One of the newest additions is the 3 water coasters with its 40 foot drop. Then have a peek into Microworld where you will come face to face with creatures you never new existed. It’s a very relaxing and safe environment.
The Heather Centre
The Heather Garden and Visitor Centre stocks up to 300 varieties of heather, providing all year round colour for your garden. You will also find a wide range of gifts for all occasions, including jewelry, cosmetics, pottery, traditional Scottish food and drink, plus a range of ladies and gents knitwear and accessories in their boutique. The ‘Heather Story’ – a unique indoor exhibition, presenting the historical and modern uses of heather. “Heather Trail’ Garden – Take a walk around the show garden which features many varieties of heathers, conifers and shrubs.
The Lecht (about 20 minutes from Hillview) has worked hard to offer attractions all year round, and with it’s brand new restaurant building offering a great break from either skiing or one of the many summer activities they have.
They now run Devil Karts, Tubing, Quad Bikes and Fun Karts and the chair lift to take you to the top to enjoy great views of the Cairngorms.Lecht Website.
Spey Valley Smokehouse
The Spey Valley Smokehouse gives you the opportunity to see the process from the salmon as a whole fish to the end product, its one of the best smoked salmon in the world. Located near Granton on Spey, the town has a long history of Salmon smoking as far back as 1888. Due to the demand of the smoked salmon they had to move to new premises. At the end of your tour you can of course buy the salmon in the shop.
Fishing on Glenlivet Community Water
The river Livet is one of the most beautiful rivers that run into the river Avon, one of the best tributaries to the river Spey.
The burns that feed the Livet run down through the heather covered hills as the snow melts, down through the glen until it finds it’s way into the river making it one of the most natural breeding grounds for the fish to spawn.
The fishing season starts 11th February to the last day of September.
