3.5 Mile Circular Walk - From Front Door
3.5 Mile Walk from Inveruglas
This walk is about a 3 1/2 mile walk and gets the heart going up the hill
Ruthven and Glen Tromie Circuit - 4hrs - Distance: 10.5km
Ruthven and Glen Tromie Circuit - 4hrs - Distance: 10.5km
This is not a boring route, mixing the grand ruins of Ruthven Barracks, open heather moorland with a “chill out and relax” feel, the wonderful Glen Tromie and to end the walk through the RSPB reserve overlooking the Insh Marshes.
TERRAIN
Paths all the way; some of the old right of way between Ruthven and Glen Tromie is a little overgrown or boggy; the rest of the walk is on a tarred private road and well-waymarked trails. Two streams near the start could be hard to cross in wet weather.
Click here for more details on this walk.
Meallach Mhor and Croidh-la, Glen Tromie - 8hrs - Distance: 22.75km
Meallach Mhor and Croidh-la, Glen Tromie - 8hrs - Distance: 22.75km
Not a really obvious or outstanding hill, Meallach Mhor has a great spot to take advantage of the vista. The fastest approach is along Glen Tromie; the walk shown in more detail on the link makes a fuller day by coming back along the heathery ridge over Croidh-la to take advantage of the views.
TERRAIN
Long tarmac track through glen; hill section is uneven, often pathless heathery slopes.
Follow this link for more details of the walk.
Insh Marshes - Invertromie Trail - 2hrs - Distance: 4.5km
A wonderful walk investigating the fringe of the Insh Marshes RSPB nature reserve with great views and changeable countryside. Bring binoculars for the three bird hides.
TERRAIN
Easy paths to follow with some steps and some rough sections.

This route took me about 90 mins and includes going up the ridge over looking the Uath Lochan Lochs
Glenmore & Rothiemurchus - Fitness Easy Mountain Biking - 24 miles
One of the many of options available when cycling the paths and trails around the forests of Glenmore & Rothiemurchus at Aviemore.
This route follows the road up the cyclepath at the start, which gets you a good gain in height, but over a long gradual slope so you don’t really notice that you’re climbing all the time.
The Burma Road - Fitness Hard Mountain Biking - 25 miles
This is the classic route around Aviemore. The route is not technical but has a long climb so you must be a well fit. After climbing waiting for us a beautiful view. Click here for the full details
Glen Feshie and Inshriach - Moderate Fitness Mountain Biking - 19 miles
A gentle ride along the road in Glen Feshie followed by a more strenuous ride back through Inshriach. This is the route described in Kenny Wilson’s book. Click here for more details
